Workshop trainings are a great way to provide team members with introductory overview of various topics. GRAZE offers workshop trainings on the following topics:
Increasing Awareness to Handle Adversity
- 2 hour virtual training and guided discussion
- Offers an introduction to mental health awareness in the workplace, terminology associated with potential challenges, education around common responses to a variety of stressors, and strategies for self care.
- Workshop content can be presented collaboratively or concurrently alongside management, providing management with content associated with potential challenges as a leader and how mental health challenges might impact staff.
Psychological Safety and Culture Development
- 2 hour training and guided discussion
- Introduces tools and language around the development of a culture of justice. Defines psychological safety and discusses the evaluation of a workspace.
- Focuses on development of potential approaches to influence the culture in a productive manner.
- Connects the relationship between mental health and psychological safety.
Becoming Familiar with Grief
- 2 hour virtual training and guided discussion
- Workshop training is a great way to provide team members with an introductory overview of various topics. Training format is a hybrid of education and discussion.
- Define different forms of grief, learn about tools and strategies for processing grief, discuss how to integrate grief.
Productive Conflict
- 2 hour virtual training and guided discussion
- This opportunity requires participants to have access to the workshop on a device that is not their phone, so that they can utilize their phones to interact with certain activities using Slido.
- Challenges beliefs and biases around conflict and the importance of having conversations directly, discussing how to bring both compassion and professionalism together.
- Looks deeply at behaviors and works to reframe and provide supportive ideas to team dynamics.
Resourcefulness and Resilience Workshop
Completing the Cycle: Addressing Healthy Stress Management
- 2 hour module
- Stress is a survival mechanism that in the short term can be helpful, however cumulative or chronic stress can potentially impact an individual’s resiliency and ability to handle stressful or traumatic situations.
- In this program we bring education around terminology, discuss the short and long-term impacts of stress, and provide evidence-based tools and strategies for healthy stress management.
Caring for the Caregiver: Tools for Actionable Self-Care
- 2 hour module
- People in the industry practice excellent animal care, however, too often these same individuals neglect to make or take the time to attend to themselves.
- In order to give care, we must be willing to receive it. This section’s goal is to increase our resiliency by encouraging investment in self.
Making a Safe Zoo Safer
Most of us at one point in our career have seen a report on a tragedy at another zoo and thought “that could never happen here.” Even though we already go through training and run drills for a variety of emergencies, the reality is that there is always room for improvement. The intent of this consultation is to plant seeds of how to make your safe zoo safer. During the workshop we will talk through any questions or concerns for potentially implementing engineering controls such as Two-key/Two-lock (2K2L). We will also talk through items that are considered administrative controls such as signage, lighting, and color contrast.
Thriving Animal Professional
- 6 hours of in person or virtual training
- Training can be completed in two 3 hour sessions or three 2 hour sessions
- Includes an electronic copy of a workbook
- Introduces participants to a variety of concepts and tools for personal and professional development including:
- Self awareness and values
- Time and stress management
- Development and implementation of new practices
